FSU baseball used some late inning magic to best NC State and inch closer to 40 wins on the season.

It was a game FSU baseball(38-16, 15-12 ACC) needed to win because all wins against great competition are valuable this time of year.

Also, it’s another win closer to the magic 40 number as FSU looks to continue its streak of 41 straight season of 40 wins or more.

The Noles got it done in dramatic fashion in both phases of the game with a Steven Wells walk-off HR in the bottom of the 11th inning to win 4-3 against No. 4 NC State.

However, prior to that, CJ Van Eyk gave up a lead off triple in the top half of the frame only to strike out the next three batters to get out of the jam.

The Noles did a great job of finally jumping out in front early with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, and had a great outing by Drew Parrish.

He went 7.2 innings and gave up three earned runs with 10 strikeouts and just one walk while scattering seven hits.

The bullpen was lights out the rest of the way with five strikeouts and only giving up one hit in 3.1 innings.

NC State came into this game winning several in a row and to take the first game could ignite this FSU team similar to last year going into the ACC Tournament. It also could have helped secure FSU as the No. 1 seed hosting the Super Regional in Tallahassee in the Field of 64.
