FSU football hasn’t played the Aggies in two decades – but the new head coach is saying it’s on them and their new coach to prove they can hang with us.

Within moments of the former FSU football coach bolting before the regular season finale against Louisiana Monore – and after his comments in the introductory press conference where he tried to play the martyr because he didn’t get his way for once – many in the Seminole family have added Texas A&M to the list of teams we want defeated every week.

No, they are never going to be on the level of Florida or Miami (and lately, Clemson) when it comes to the rivalry scale, but the men from College Station have become a target from Tallahassee – and someone that the Noles want to get on the schedule to show their former “leader” how bad of a mistake he made.

You can count the new head coach of FSU football, Willie Taggart, among those who are not shying away from a chance to take on the Aggies. During a recent booster tour stop in Orlando, Taggart was asked point blank about the chances of playing Texas A&M in the near future.

Taggart is throwing some shade at the former Florida State coach with this one, saying we aren’t afraid to play them and that the Aggies – who have one conference title in the last 24 seasons, two double digit win seasons over that span and haven’t won a national title since 1939 – should realize they aren’t better than anyone, especially the Seminoles.

One look at future FSU football schedules shows that the Seminoles have just one opening left  in both 2019 and 2020, which means adding the Aggies won’t work there. Starting in 2021, the Noles are wide open with just the annual game against Florida and a few games against Notre Dame sprinkled in over the next decade and a half.

Athletics Director Stan Wilcox would be the man of the hour if he could work out a home and home series with the Aggies. Heck, we’ll even go there and beat them first to throw gasoline on the fire. By then, the Seminoles will have gotten back on top and the new coach in College Station will get used to being fourth place every year in the SEC West.
