Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2018 baseball season.

After a five game losing streak that had many wondering if the FSU baseball team had officially hit their midseason wall and wouldn’t be able to bounce back, the Seminoles went out and did work in a two game midweek series that showcased a pitching masterpiece in one game and an offensive explosion in the other.

Now, head coach Mike Martin and his team hit the road for a three game series in the ACC Atlantic Division that will include a visit to one of the most iconic locations in all of sports – with the Seminoles needing to play like an iconic program if they want to get a top seed in the conference and NCAA tournament.

Here’s our preview of this week’s game between the Seminoles and the Stetson Hatters.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

On Tuesday, FSU baseball welcomed in-state foe Stetson to town for the first of three midweek games this season. The opener saw Andrew Karp and C.J. Van Eyk combine for a one hitter with 14 strikeouts while Steven Wells hit a solo homer and the Seminoles added three runs on a walk, groundout and wild pitch to get the 4-0 victory.

All that offense not used on Tuesday came to life on Wednesday when the Noles hit a total of seven homers in the game – after leading by just one run in the fifth inning, Florida State scored 12 unanswered runs en route to a 18-10 victory, moving their record to 26-12 on the season.

Opponent Preview

It hasn’t been a season to remember for the Boston College Eagles, who come into this weekend with a 13-23 record – getting a win in the middle of the week against Dartmouth after losing 12 of their previous 15 games that included conference sweeps against both Virginia Tech and Clemson.

For the season, the men from Chestnut Hill are batting just .248 at the plate with just two regular starters over .300 at this point. The pitching staff has been a problem this season as the Eagles are giving up an ERA of 5.15 for the year with opponents batting .264 on the season.

The highlight of the weekend will be Saturday’s game being played inside Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, while the two other games will be played on Boston College’s campus.

Interesting Fact

Since the Eagles have joined the ACC in the 2006 season, FSU baseball has had plenty of success that includes a 31-5 overall record – including a 14-2 record in games played in the northeast (2-0 neutral site and 15-3 in Tallahassee), with their last series two seasons ago being just one game due to wicked weather in the area all weekend.
