FSU Football: Top Seminoles that should have jersey numbers honored
By Jason Parker
No. 58 – DE Peter Boulware (1994-1996) and DE Jamal Reynolds (1997-2000)
Why they should be honored: It would almost be fitting that these two players, both natives of South Carolina who manned the same spot on the line for the better part of a decade, would have worn the same numbers while dominating for FSU football and should be honored at the same time for all they did on the field.
Boulware came in first and had a monster time playing along side Reinard Wilson during their three seasons together, with No. 58 finishing his career second all time with 34 sacks as a Seminole – including the single season record with 19 sacks in 1996 during a season where he was the ACC’s defensive player of the year as well as a consensus All-American.
For Reynolds, it might have been a little bit harder to following in the footsteps of his Palmetto State forerunner, but he held his own by finishing his career with 23.5 sacks that was highlighted by a 2000 season where the was named the Lombardi Award winner as the top lineman, a unanimous All-American and finished the year with 12 sacks while joining Boulware in helping to lead FSU football to the national title game in his final season.
