FSU recruiting lands its second commitment of spring game weekend with another blue chip recruit.

FSU recruiting needed linebackers last recruiting cycle and landed two while missing on a couple others. However, the coaching staff wasted no time in landing a top target in the 2019 recruiting class.

Four-star linebacker Jaleel McRae announced his commitment to FSU while on campus for the spring game Saturday.

McRae hails from IMG Academy, and ironically is a teammate of recent FSU commit and four-star offensive lineman Dontae Lucas.

He’s the No. 116 ranked player and the No. 7 outside linebacker in the nation. McRae is listed at 6’2″ 230 pounds and isn’t even a senior in high school yet.

He has offers from the likes of Florida, Georgia, LSU, North Carolina, Texas A&M and NC State among others.

Thoughts

This commitment is another example of Willie Taggart and company laying the ground work and building relationships. McRae was one of a select few of juniors invited to attend FSU’s junior day in February.

There were only about 30 recruits on campus and were given a great opportunity to learn more about what FSU has to offer and how the coaching staff works.

Less than two months later and McRae and his teammate have committed to FSU recruiting. The good news is there are still teammates of McRae and Lucas that FSU is still pursuing as well.

This commitment moves FSU to the No. 3 class in the nation and the No. 1 class in the ACC. It’s been a while since we could say that with the way Clemson has been recruiting lately(they landed two huge recruits today too).

It’s the eighth commitment in the 2019 class and FSU has the fourth highest average per player in the nation at 92.63. Out of all the teams ranked in the top 10, only Georgia and Oklahoma have higher averages.
