FSU football got away from the physical punch you in the face style it became known for in the 90’s.

One of the most frustrating things for FSU football the past four seasons has been on the defensive side of the ball.

The Noles used to be known for aggressive play, bone jarring hits and defensive dominance. Those days seemingly went away after the 2013 national championship season.

Don’t get me wrong, FSU defenses were good, but they were not up to the FSU standard fans were accustomed to.

Especially considering the amount of talent the Noles had on that side of the ball each year. There were too many boneheaded plays, coverage busts and way too many third and Kelly conversions.

New defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett looks to get the Noles back to the style of play FSU made popular in the 90’s. An aggressive style that makes offenses one-dimensional while forcing teams to win on low percentage plays.

Also, for the first time Harlon Barnett will blue chip players at almost every position on the field. His defenses were very good with good talent, but they should be elite with what FSU football has on the roster.

Let’s look at three areas we should expect huge improvements in 2018.
