Free Throws

Finally, one of the most frustrating aspect of this team for all FSU basketball fans. Remember how we said seven of their 12 losses came by six points or less? Here’s how FSU shot from the free throw line in those losses:

  • 1 point loss against Oklahoma State (16 of 24)
  • 6 point loss against Miami (17 of 26)
  • 4 point loss against Louisville (9 of 13)
  • 6 point loss against Boston College (16 of 18)
  • 4 point loss against Wake Forest (12 of 20)
  • 4 point loss against Virginia (13 of 19)
  • 4 point loss against Michigan (18 of 20)

So in at least five of those games FSU would have won or at least tied the game had the shot better at the free throw line. The other two losses FSU shot less than 40 percent from the floor overall.

They shot .691 percent from the free throw line as a team, and that number was bumped up by that 18 of 20 performance against Michigan in the last game.

Look at that, free throws are the difference in going 28-7 instead of 23-12 and getting a No. 9 seed instead of a better seed in the NCAA Tournament.
