FSU Basketball: Our top 5 areas to improve in 2018-19

Shot Selection
FSU basketball was one of the best offensive teams in the country averaging 82.1 points per game and the No. 2 scoring team in the ACC at 80 ppg.
The Noles made their presence felt mostly in transition or on the offensive boards and free throw line.
However, they struggled when forced to play the half court game against good defensive teams that wanted to slow the pace of the game down like Virginia and Michigan.

That’s where shot selection came into play and robbed the Noles of quality offensive possessions. The Michigan game was a prime example with players taking contested shots or low quality shots that resulted in transition points for opposing teams.
FSU basketball shot .468 percent on the year which is down from .483 percent in 2017. That number dropped to .451 in ACC play which was No. 4 in the league.
That’s not a terrible number, but one that can be improved upon quite a bit with better offensive possessions.
FSU was great at taking the rock to the basket and getting fouled, but still had 37 percent of their overall shots come from beyond the arc where they only made 35 percent of those shots.
The Noles need to make better use of their ability to get in the lane for higher percentage shots instead of settling for so many three-point attempts.
