Quarterback

The biggest question of the off-season for Willie Taggart. Which quarterback on the roster will be the best fit to run his Gulf Coast offense?

The good news is there are three talented quarterbacks on the roster with two having a year of starting experience.

Deondre Francois started as a redshirt freshman and led the Nole to a 10-3 record in 2016 before getting hurt in the first game of 2017 against Alabama.

FSU’s bad luck with quarterback recruiting and misses on the trail forced the former regime to start a true freshman that wasn’t an early enrollee in James Blackman with Bailey Hockman redshirting.

Blackman was 7-5 overall and had moments where you could see his potential to be great coupled with a number of freshmen mistakes.

The competition is wide open according to Taggart with Francois still not 100 percent recovered from his knee injury. Blackman and Hockman will get the majority of the reps in spring practice with Francois likely participating in 7 on 7 drills.

The quarterback that doesn’t make mistakes and separates himself as a leader will likely win the job.
