Auden Tate

"DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 4-5"

"NFL Comparison: Kelvin Benjamin"

"BOTTOM LINE Tate’s speed and quickness limitations could make finding an NFL role for him challenging if he’s unable to create enough separation for quarterbacks to target him. What he does have going for him is that he can catch through contact and has very good ball skills — especially near the endzone. Tate’s toughness and willingness to play through a shoulder injury this year will stand out to teams. Tate will be targeted by teams looking for a matchup weapon with value as a zone beater and red zone target."

Thoughts

Tate may not have blazing speed but he’s plenty fast and you simply can’t teach 6’5″ with vise grips for hands.

I think Tate’s in the same ball park as Kelvin Benjamin coming out of FSU, but I think Tate’s got better work ethic and mentally more mature than Benjamin was.

The NFL is full of larger receivers going up against smaller cornerbacks and Tate should fit right in. Kelvin Benjamin was able to be drafted in the first round and he ran a 4.59 and a 4.53 at his NFL Combine.

If Tate gets anything below a 4.6 I could see him going in the first or second round.
