Rick Leonard

"DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 7/PFA BOTTOM LINE"

"Leonard is a top-heavy tackle with decent athleticism but lacking in consistency and fundamentals at this stage of his development. There is enough athleticism and potential to work with, but he is still a project with a lack of body control and balance that creates challenges in landing anywhere but a practice squad early in his career."

Thoughts

It’s amazing that Rick Leonard is even considered being draftable since he is a converted defensive end who’s only played offensive line for a couple of years.

That inexperience is why the consistency and fundamentals were lacking. Frankly, I’d be surprised if Leonard were drafted, but he’s a hard worker for all intents and purposes and could be coached up in the right situation.

Offensive line injuries are common place and if he can latch on somewhere he could crack the 53 man roster of a team. All it takes is one team!
