Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming week of games scheduled for play during the 2017-18 basketball season.

If you are trying to figure out the FSU basketball team this season, do yourself a favor and stop it. There is no way to understand what is going on with this year’s Seminoles – and that was shown even more when the Noles dropped both of their games in the ACC last week and now continue their drop in the conference standings.

Now, the Seminoles continue their road toward the NIT – okay, that might be a little rash, but a turnaround is needed soon – as they face yet another ranked team from the ACC and another team they SHOULD have no problem beating from the bottom of the conference…which means they will end up struggling if last week was any indication.

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of this week’s games for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

Last Wednesday, the Noles hosted the second ranked Virginia Cavaliers inside the Tucker Center and – for about 30 minutes – looked like they were going to get the win that would cement their resume for the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the Cavs brought their suffocating defense with them and held the Seminoles without a field goal in the final nine minutes, coming back for the 59-55 win (missing six free throws in the game as well, just FYI).

On Saturday, FSU basketball was on the road against Notre Dame as they faced a Fighting Irish team who has struggled this season with their best player injured. Someone forgot to tell the leprechauns that they were supposed to lose, though.

The Seminoles fought back from a six point deficit at the half to tie the game at 56 behind a team high 16 points from C.J. Walker – but Notre Dame went on a late run to cruise toward a 84-69 win, keeping the Noles winless all time in South Bend.

Opponent Preview

FSU basketball will get a chance at another ranked win when they host the Clemson Tigers on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tipoff inside the Tucker Center. Clemson has won four straight games, including a win over the lowly Pittsburgh Panthers in their one game last week.

On Sunday, those same Panthers will host the Seminoles in a game that Florida State should come out on top of. At 8-18 this season, Pitt has been in the pits as they have lost 13 straight games – and have a chance to make it 14 straight losses when they play Boston College on Tuesday.

Interesting Fact

Ever since the ACC raided more Big East basketball schools and brought them over, it hasn’t been good for FSU basketball playing those teams – Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. So far, the Seminoles are a combined 9-14 against those four schools and don’t have a winning record against any of them.
