Linebackers

GRADE: B+

  • Xavier Peters
  • Amari Gainer

The ‘Noles would have liked to take one more linebacker in this class, but instead settled on Peters and Gainer. They are the No. 174 and No. 239 ranked players in the class of 2018.

Gainer is the MVP of the recruiting cycle as he was the alpha dog that helped communicate with other recruits. If not for him being a FSU legacy and living in Tallahassee, FSU may not have gotten some of the players they did.

Gainer is an early enrollee which should be helpful in seeing him get to the field a little bit earlier or at least on special teams.

Peters flipped from his Kentucky commitment last week and is one of the better linebackers in the class and a violent hitter. He’ll likely assume the Jacob Pugh role in his time as a Nole.
