Quarterbacks

GRADE: D

FSU football’s hands were tied a when Willie Taggart took over the program. The early signing period created an issue and the former regime wasn’t able to identify many targets with a legitimate shot to enroll after missing on Justin Fields.

Taggart tried to snag four-star QB Emory Jones from Florida and was close to doing so even though he didn’t any any type of relationship with him the way Florida coach Dan Mullen did.

Once Taggart missed on Jones, he went all in on four-star quarterback James Foster who had shown interest in FSU while the old regime was in place.

Taggart took a while to hire his offensive coordinator but eventually hired Walt Bell who picked up where Taggart left off with Foster. The Noles were able to secure the final visit for Foster and there were reports that Foster and his family enjoyed the visit very much.

However, in the end it wasn’t enough and Foster decided to join Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M. Now, Foster was a good player but he wasn’t elite and wasn’t a must have in the class.

FSU has three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster with two having significant playing experience. They’ll be fine in this department but I couldn’t give a grade higher than a D considering it was a need and FSU didn’t sign anyone.

However, I’ll say I’d rather them not reach on a quarterback and save the scholarship for next season’s class.
