FSU football is having plenty of fun with this year’s spring game – asking fans to remember the dominance of the 90s and having the music to prove it.

When Willie Taggart was introduced as the head coach for FSU football on December 6th, the new leader made it very clear that he was going to move the Seminoles forward for the 2018 season and beyond while also playing the proper respect to the past success and players that made the Noles one of the biggest national brands in the sport.

Taggart has done that during the recruiting process and has made it clear that former players are welcomed back, building on relationships that will help the next generation of Florida State greats. This April, when the Seminoles host their annual spring game, it appears that the throwback theme is going to be in full force.

Within minutes of FSU football announcing the details of their April 14th Garnet and Gold game inside Doak Campbell Stadium, the internet was losing their mind over the fact that the Seminoles would be hosting a concert featuring some of the early 90s biggest musical acts – Salt N Pepa, Vanilla Ice and Rob Base.

When you look at the tweet from associate athletic director Jason Dennard, some hints may have been dropped about a throwback theme for the whole game.

It’s a double edged sword for the Seminoles – as you want to honor the past without being like schools such as Miami or Notre Dame who haven’t won anything in decades but still talk about their past like they are relevant. Still, the thought of seeing throwback unis from the days of Charlie Ward or Peter Warrick would be pretty sweet, even for just one game.

Chop Chat will be there for all the festivities (we wouldn’t miss a throwback concert or the Taggart debut for our lives) and hope that others stop, collaborate and listen…to our message of getting to Tallahassee and supporting the lethal simplicity of FSU football in 2018 and beyond.
