Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming week of games scheduled for play during the 2017-18 basketball season.

With the final third of the regular season beginning this week for FSU Basketball, the Seminoles seemed to have found their rhythm in getting two convincing wins in conference play – all while getting revenge against a team who beat the Noles big time last season and an in-state foe who was out to get another sweep in their series against Florida State.

Now, the Seminoles hit the road this week for two winnable games that could keep them squarely in the running for one of the double bye spots in the ACC Tournament this March in Brooklyn – something that would be huge in keeping FSU basketball in the running for another high seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of this week’s games for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

The action started on Wednesday when the Noles hosted the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in what became the Terance Mann show. The Seminoles’ top player started with 21 points in the first half alone, finishing the game with 30 points as FSU basketball held on to a double digit lead for most of the day, finishing with a 88-77 win.

On Saturday, the Seminoles hosted the rival Miami Hurricanes hoping to avenge their January 7th loss in Coral Gables. FSU basketball held the lead for most of the game, but Miami forced overtime in a game where they hit 17 three-point baskets.

In the extra frame, the Seminoles scored the first seven points and kept the game from getting close during that time to finish with a 103-94 victory. Florida State shot a season high 60 percent from the field, while having six players score in double figures led by Phil Cofer’s 21 points and Braian Angola’s 18 points.

Opponent Preview

The Seminoles will hit the road for two games this week, starting Wednesday when they travel to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Head coach Danny Manning’s team has been dealing with quite the slump of late, losing nine of their last 10 games to limp into this contest with a record of 8-13.

On Saturday, it’s off to Louisville for their second game this season against the Cardinals. The Seminoles blew a double-digit lead in their January 11th game, winning 73-69 despite Terance Mann getting 25 points.

While second place right now in the ACC, Louisville will face a monster challenge when they face a second ranked Virginia team coming off wins over ranked Clemson and Duke this past week.

Interesting Fact

At 16-5 on the season, FSU basketball is well on their way to another 20-win season baring a setback of epic proportions. If that plateau is reached again, the Seminoles will be doing something for just the third time in program history – winning 20 games in three straight seasons.
