FSU football alum Telvin Smith had a spectacular game against the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday afternoon.

FSU football alum Telvin Smith was the heart and soul of the 2013 National Championship defense, and he’s the same for the Jacksonville Jaguars a few years later.

Smith was named a second team NFL All-Pro in 2017 and had 102 tackles, one sack, five passes defended and there interceptions in the regular season.

However, he played like a man possessed Sunday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Check it out as FSU players and fans react to his 16 tackle and fumble recovery for a touchdown performance.

Thoughts

It’s incredible to see the love and respect players, fans and media have for Telvin Smith. The guy is a straight up winner and the type of guy you want in the foxhole with you.

It’s even better with another Nole great on the team in Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey is arguably the best cornerback in the league and Smith was voted among one of the 100 best players in the NFL in 2016.

Smith is excellent in coverage and as one of the tweets suggested, is always around the ball. He has an uncanny ability to “get skinny” to penetrate backfields to make tackles for loss just as he did at FSU.

His lack of size coming out of FSU was one of the reasons he wasn’t drafted higher, but Jacksonville has found a way to utilize his speed and instincts to make him one of the best linebackers in the league.
