Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their upcoming week of games scheduled for play during the 2017-18 basketball season.

If the past week of games is any indication of how things are going to go for the FSU basketball team this season, it might be smart for fans to invest in a year long supply of heartburn medication of something to help out – because this year’s Seminole team seems determined to not make anything go easy this season.

After watching a home winning streak that lasted almost two years go ‘bye bye’ after blowing a big lead, the Noles almost did it again this weekend before needing extra time to escape with a win. Now, Florida State heads on the road for two games against teams that, on paper, they should have little trouble with and get much needed conference wins.

Here’s our recap of last week’s action and a preview of this week’s games for the Seminoles.

Last Week Recap

If you went to bed at halftime of Wednesday’s game for FSU basketball against the Louisville Cardinals, you would have thought the Seminoles had no trouble as they had scoring runs of nine and 11 points to take a 13 point lead into the locker room. The second half, however, was a much different story as the rim went cold for the Noles and they dropped a 73-69 decision.

Terance Mann led the Seminoles with 25 points, but suffered a concussion in the second half as the Noles saw their 28 game home winning streak broken and Florida State suffered their third loss after leading at the half.

Saturday, FSU basketball – playing without Mann as he wasn’t cleared for the game – once again had a double digit halftime lead after starting off sluggish against the Syracuse Orange. The lead evaporated as the Orange went on a 24-7 run to start the second half, and after Florida State took the lead late, Syracuse hit a three pointer to send the game to overtime.

The contest would go to a second overtime, where the Seminoles pulled away once they got to the free throw line and used 24 points from Braian Angola to get the 101-90 win and extend their record to 13-4 on the season.

Opponent Preview

Monday, the Seminoles will head up to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for a showdown with the Boston College Eagles. At 12-6 on the season, the Eagles lost three of four games before finally getting a win in a non-conference game against the always tough Dartmouth Big Green.

On Saturday, the road fun continues with a noon game against the Virginia Tech Hokies. At 13-5 on the season, the men from Blacksburg dropped their first two conference games before winning two straight – and then losing on Saturday when they faced Louisville.

Interesting Fact

The Seminoles worked for a while on Saturday and haven’t done that in a while – as the win over Syracuse was the first double overtime game for FSU basketball since beating Wake Forest nearly three years ago inside the Tucker Center.
