Quality Over Quantity

Most teams signed the majority of their class during the new early signing period unlike FSU football. I’ve always stressed Jimbo Fisher kept too many players on the roster that were never going to be significant contributors on the field.

That sounds like it’s going to change under the new regime and why Taggart wants to keep this class smaller that we thought it would be under Fisher.

This is how good the seven players that signed with FSU are when it comes to national rankings:

  • 94.06 average player ranking
  • Four players in top 100

Even if you look at the 10 players in the class, eight of 10 players are in 247 Composite Top 300 which is a 80 percent blue chip ratio. Again, we expect one of those players ranked outside the top 300 not to be in this class.

FSU’s 92.42 average player ranking (all 10 commits) is only second in the ACC behind Clemson’s 92.81 who’s ranked No. 7 nationally.

FSU is in the mix for several blue chip players and there’s at least three or four who are expected to sign with FSU.
