FSU Football: Will ‘Noles win first day of early signing period?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football will add a few member of its 2018 recruiting class on the first day of the early signing period.
FSU football will face a new phase in college football with its first early signing period for new recruits in the 2018 class.
Players that sign their national letter of intent during this period are done with the recruiting process, but it’s optional and some players are waiting until National Signing Day.
However, there are a few FSU commits expected to sign with the ‘Noles on Wednesday. There are also a few high-profile targets that have the ‘Noles in the mix.
The question is can the ‘Noles make a big splash under new head coach Willie Taggart on the first day of the early signing period?

Taggart had a gang of blue chip recruits on campus this past weekend which was strategic for those planning to sign early. Let’s take a look at those that could sign with FSU:
Expected Signees Wednesday
- Amari Gainer, four-star LB @ 3 p.m. ET
- Robert Cooper, four-star DT @ TBD
- Christian Armstrong, three-star OL 1 p.m. ET
That’s three commits from the 2018 class. Here’s a list of those players I believe FSU has a somewhat decent shot of signing:
Potential Surprises Wednesday
- Jaiden Woodbey, five-star DB @ 8:30 p.m. ET
- Emory Jones, four-star QB @ 11:30 a.m. ET
- Terrance Marshall, five-star WR @ 3:30 p.m. ET
Thoughts
If the ‘Noles can land just one of the three potential surprise recruits it would be huge momentum for this class and any of them would be dynamite players. It they landed two, people would anoint Willie Taggart as the second coming of Bobby Bowden on the recruiting trails.
Woodbey and Marshall would help fill huge needs at those positions and Jones would take the souls of the Florida Gator fans as most believe they lead for him.
There are other FSU commits/targets expected to sign this week. Linebacker Rosendo Louis is a current FSU commit with a lot of smoke to South Carolina. Isaiah Bolden is set to sign on Friday and most believe he’ll be signing with FSU football.
Other names FSU fans would be familiar with are James Cook (UGA commit) and Michael Penix. Of course Cook is the younger brother of FSU great Dalvin Cook and former FSU commit.

FSU could end up with as many as six early signees which would leave about 18 or so spots left in this class.
