FSU soccer had a big showing in their first round victory over Ole Miss and now hits the road looking to get back to the College Cup.

After missing out on the College Cup for the first time since the 2010 season during last year’s NCAA Tournament, the Lady Noles of FSU Soccer decided they aren’t going to hold anything back in the 2017 edition of the 64 team field – and now hit the road for the rest of the way as they go after the second national title in program history.

First Round Recap

In what will likely turn out to be the final game this season inside the Seminole Soccer Complex on campus, the Lady Noles went out in a big way as Deyna Castellanos score a goal in the fourth minute and added one in the 28th minute to start the rout. Dallas Dorosy (70:00), Kaycie Tillman (76:00) and Gabby Carle (86:00) added second half goals in the 5-0 win over Ole Miss.

Cassie Miller had a light day in goal as the Rebels got off just seven shots the entire game, with two of them on goal and Miller not having to register a save all game for FSU Soccer as they extended their record 12-6-1 on the year.

Second Round Preview

Now, the Lady Noles head out to Palo Alto, CA for hopefully a full weekend trip. The action starts Friday night when FSU takes on the Arizona Wildcats in the first ever meeting between the schools. In their first round game, Arizona used two second half goals to get the comeback 2-1 over TCU in what will almost certainly be their final home game of the season.

Third Round Potential Opponents

If Florida State can get by the Wildcats, they will play on Sunday against either the Stanford Cardinal or the Auburn Tigers. Stanford enters as the number one seed in the region and defeated Utah Valley 9-1 in the first round while the Tigers came out on top in a 1-0 game against Hofstra last weekend.

Next: Reasons FSU Football fans should step back from the ledge

The Lady Noles have a 1-2 all time record against Stanford, with their win coming in the 2014 semifinals of the College Cup en route to their national title. FSU Soccer is 10-2 all time against the Tigers, winning their last meeting 2-0 in the third round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
