FSU football has been showing more heart since the Boston College loss. Jimbo Fisher spoke with the media Monday afternoon.

Jimbo Fisher likes the heart and passion his team played with against Clemson. He wants them to play with the same heart but execute better.

FSU football was 17 point underdogs against Clemson and many thought the ‘Noles would be blown out by the reigning champs. Honestly, they easily could have been if the FSU defense didn’t force fumbles as Clemson was knocking on the door of the end zone.

On the flip side, if FSU catches two passes between Auden Tate and Nyqwan Murray, they may have been up in the game deep in the fourth quarter.

The impressive thing was the team continued to play hard despite being down 14 points in the first half.

Brian Burns forcing a fumble is a prime reason why players should always play every down like it’s their last and not to concede anything.

However, the biggest thing keeping the ‘Noles from putting wins in the column this year has been execution.

Jimbo Fisher talks Clemson and  future of FSU program

It’s either a missed tackle, missing a checkdown pass for easy yards on third down or giving up third and forever after playing well on first and second down on defense.

If the ‘Noles continue to play with heart AND finally find ways to execute in critical situations the wins will come as they used too.

Jimbo Fisher hopes the trials and experiences of this season will help the team build for the future. A lot of young players in the secondary like Stanford Samuels III and Hamsah Nasirildeen are getting valuable playing time with the expected departure of Derwin James and Tarvarus McFadden.

A true freshman quarterback and running back are getting almost all the reps on offense. The ‘Noles will have two experienced quarterbacks on the roster and a redshirt freshman in Bailey Hockman.

All of those things are great building blocks for 2018. Lets hope the ‘Noles reel off three straight wins and go on to win their bowl game to give this team much-needed momentum heading into 2018.
