FSU Basketball Weekly Preview: November 13th-19th
By Jason Parker
Here’s a preview of FSU basketball and their next week of games during the 2017-18 basketball season as the action tips off.
While the Seminoles may be going through some struggles on the football field this season, FSU basketball is tipping off their 2017-18 campaign this week with three games that will give fans a taste of what this season will have in store for head coach Leonard Hamilton as he enters his 16th season as the head man in Tallahassee.
The week will start with a game against one team the Seminoles defeated last season before hitting the road for a working vacation with two games in Jamaica. It will also give the Noles a chance to see who will be up to the task of replacing the production from last year’s NCAA Tournament team that is now playing for money in the NBA.

Here’s our recap of last season’s action and a preview of this week’s games for the Seminoles.
Last Season Recap
After watching the NCAA Tournament take place for the previous four seasons, FSU basketball decided to get back in the fun and made in to the big dance for the first time in five seasons. The Seminoles started the season hotter than any other team in school history, going 18-2 that included five wins over ranked teams in a six game span.
The Noles finished the season second in the ACC, their highest finish in nearly a quarter century, while reaching as high as sixth in the national polls and earned a No. 3 seed in the tournament, defeating Florida Gulf Coast in the first round before being upset by Xavier one round later.
Opponents Preview
The Seminoles open their season on Tuesday night inside the Tucker Center at 7 p.m. when they host George Washington, a team they defeated 68-47 last season in Washington D.C. during that record hot start. The Colonials finished last season 20-15, losing in the CBI second round.
On Friday, FSU basketball heads to Jamaica for the first of two games this coming weekend. The action starts against the Fordham Rams, a team who went 13-19 last season but returns most of their team from last season.
On Sunday, the Seminoles will face the Colorado State Rams. Last season, head coach Larry Eustachy led the team to a 24-12 record which included an appearance in the Mountain West Conference title game and a tr.ip to the NIT, where they lost in the second round.
Interesting Fact
As the Seminoles open the season with three opponents they have met a combined four times this season (three against GWU and once against Colorado State), FSU basketball will be looking to win their first three games of a season for the second straight season.

A hot start to the season has been a staple for most of Hamilton’s tenure as the Noles have started at least 3-0 in 10 of his 15 seasons in Tallahassee, including a six season streak from 2006-07 to the 2011-12 season.
