College Football Playoff predictions – Week 10
By Zack Scott
The College Football Playoff committee will release their second week of rankings tonight. Chop Chat is back with their predictions on the top 6.
This past weekend featured chaos for two teams with playoff aspirations. Ohio State and Penn State both lost, meaning the Big Ten may potentially be left out of this years college football playoffs. The only team left from that conference that has a shot is 8-0 Wisconsin who is currently ranked No. 9 by the committee.
Notre Dame, Clemson, and Oklahoma all won keeping their playoff hopes alive. Alabama and Georgia both won as well this past week. Therefore the top four teams shouldn’t look much different from last week. However, there will be a lot of mix up just outside those teams.
Zack’s picks:
- Georgia (9-0) – The Bulldogs remain the top dog until proven otherwise.
- Alabama (9-0) – Although it’s Alabama, the weak schedule this year isn’t doing them any favors.
- Notre Dame (8-1) – The Irish may have the most physical OL in the country and that’s a must have for championship football.
- Clemson (8-1) – Clemson had an impressive win against a very good NC State team but Notre Dame is still the better one loss team.
First two out: No. 5 Oklahoma (8-1) and No. 6 Miami (9-0)
Jason’s picks:
- Georgia – If you’re going to start at the top, you stay there until proven you can’t win.
- Alabama – A win over LSU looked good, setting up this collision course with the Bulldogs.
- Notre Dame – This week’s game with Miami might be the qualify for one of the four spots.
- Oklahoma – Another road win over a top 11 team looks real good on that resume
First two out: No. 5 Clemson and No. 6 Miami
Kelvin’s picks:
- Alabama
- Georgia
- Notre Dame
- Clemson
First two out: Oklahoma and Wisconsin
Thoughts:
As I said I cant see the top 4 changing due to the outcomes for each team this past week. It will be interesting to see who the committee puts at five and six though.
Every week of games matters and thats no different this week. There are some intriguing matchups with playoff implications.
- No. 1 Georgia vs. No. 14 Auburn
- No. 3 Notre Dame vs. No. 10 Miami
- No. 8 TCU vs. No. 5 Oklahoma
- Florida State vs. No. 4 Clemson
The committees rankings will released tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN as they are every week. As always let us know if you agree or disagree with our predictions. Feedback is always welcomed in the comment section or on twitter.
