College Football Betting: Chop Chat’s top 5 bets of week 8
By Kelvin Hunt
The college football season is now in full swing, so let’s take a stab at trying to make some money.
We’re back with another addition of Chop Chat’s best college football bets. We had a great week five and finished in the black with a record of 3-1-1.
This now puts our overall record at 17-11-2 after seven weeks.
Recap
- FSU -7 vs. Duke-FSU is the far superior team and the offense looked like they were finally getting it together. Duke’s offense is not very good. Push, this was a good bet and should have won easily. Ugh..
- FSU vs. Duke UNDER 45(buy hook)-Duke doesn’t have a good passing offense and FSU is stout against the run. I expect FSU to run the ball a lot against Duke too. A 31-13 score would win. Win, even more low scoring than I thought.
- West Virginia -3 vs. Texas Tech-If you been around awhile…you know my rule. If a ranked team is the underdog. Watch out. Win, it didn’t start out good….but ended as it usually does when the unranked team is favored.
- Auburn -7 (buy hook) vs. LSU-LSU barely beat Florida who’s one of the luckiest teams in CFB this season. Auburn’s defense is legit…and their defense should be able to hold LSU in check. Looks like Auburn’s beginning to figure it out on offense too. Loss, Ehhh….Auburn was up double digits at one point and fell off like Big Mac toppings…it happens.
- Georgia Tech +7 vs. Miami-Miami has struggled against the run all year and is coming off their first win over FSU in seven years. GT’s coming off a bye week….Perfect recipe for a L facing the triple option. Win, and Georgia Tech should have won this game outright but gave it away.
This Week’s Bets

- Michigan St. (-6.5) vs. Indiana-Michigan State at home with the better defense and have played a tougher schedule. Th score in the Minnesota game was not as close as it appeared at the end.
- UNC +21 vs. Virginia Tech-i know UNC has struggled this year but three touchdowns in conference play is a lot. Hokies should win it, but I think UNC’s offense can put up enough of a fight to keep this within three scores.
- Wake Forest vs. Georgia Tech UNDER 48-Wake Forest has a decent defense and limited offense. Georgia Tech likely eats up clock running the ball with the triple option.
- West Virginia -9.5 vs. Baylor-Baylor has lost almost every game by double digits this season and has a weak defense. Baylor’s strength is the pass and West Virginia’s defense should be enough to handle it.
- FSU vs. Louisville OVER 59-I’m not sure FSU can totally contain Lamar Jackson and Louisville’s defense is pretty terrible.
