FSU football returned to action against NC State Saturday.

It started off rough for FSU football as James Blackman and the offense looked lost at times. However, the true freshman played well enough for the ‘Noles to win the game.

He finished with a stat line of 22 of 38 for 278 yards and one touchdown.

Blackman did have a costly fumble in the first half as he made a highlight reel play to escape a tackle only to be stripped from behind.

NC State recovered the fumble on the two-yard line and erased a prime scoring opportunity for the ‘Noles.

It’s clear the fans felt Blackman played well enough to win as most of the venom spit online went towards the defense. I must say the referees blew butt cheeks the whole game too.

Thoughts

If you would have told me those were Blackman’s stats prior to the game I would have been sure FSU would have come away with a win. However, there were a few pivotal calls by the refs that turned things in favor of NC State.

Also, the ‘Noles did themselves no favors by settling for field goals instead of touchdowns. There was also a drive where FSU started their drive on NC State’s 36 yard line and didn’t get ANY points.

It looks like FSU suffered injuries to some key players in this game, so it could be interesting the rest of the season. I think James Blackman can be serviceable at least as NC State has one of the better defenses in the country.
