FSU football has been on the sidelines since Hurricane Irma forced the cancellation of one game and postponement of another, so here’s a recap for fans.

This coming Saturday, the FSU football team will do something that fans and even the team themselves haven’t seen in a while – the Seminoles will actually take the field and play a football game when they face North Carolina State for what has become the home opener after that annoyance called Hurricane Irma took her toll on the Sunshine State.

The devastating storm cause the entire state to go into disarray and for things such as college football games to go onto the back burner for a while. It cost the Seminoles their game with Louisiana Monroe and moved their game with Miami to the first weekend in October.

In the meantime, fans of FSU football have been busy with important things like cleaning up the state of Florida and rebuilding their lives and homes to understandably be paying close attention to college football like they normally do. That’s where we at Chop Chat are here to help!

Here’s just a quick recap of some of the things you may have missed out on during the two weeks away from the sport:

  • Sad to say, Deondre Francois is still out for the rest of the season after tearing up his knee in that opener that we all want to forget about.
  • Speaking of that game that people seem to think Alabama “dominated” over FSU football, the Crimson Tide reportedly turned down a trade that would have sent them to the AFC North in exchange for either Cincinnati or Cleveland.
  • The fanbase of the rival Miami Hurricanes, who also haven’t played a game since September 2nd, continue to say they are back after one game – in which they defeated a FCS team.
  • Kevin Sumlin, Butch Jones and Jim McElwain all still have head coaching jobs – for the moment.
  • Along that line, UCLA actually just scored again on Sumlin’s Texas A&M team, so he may want to start packing those bags.
  • The Big 12 is throwing their hat into the ring as the best Power Five conference after Oklahoma beat Ohio State – until they remembered any conference with Kansas football in it can’t be the best at anything.
  • Speaking of bad things from the Big 12, the Baylor Bears are 0-3 to start the season with losses to Liberty, UT-San Antonio and Duke. I guess God does answer prayers.
  • Finally, as much as some may want to say different, the season is not over for the Seminoles just because they lost the opener. There is no truth to the rumors that Florida State is giving up on the season.

Hopefully, that helps you get back in the game as the Seminoles prepare for a Wolfpack coming in to Tallahassee off a big win last week over FCS foe Furman.
