Penalties

We have harped on this the past few years until we are garnet in the face. FSU football has to clean up this area of their game.

They get penalized way too much, and it has cost them dearly in several games the past few years. Here’s a look at some key losses and the number of penalties called on FSU:

  • Clemson 2016-13 penalties for 111 yards
  • UNC-13 penalties for 120 yards
  • Louisville-8 penalties for 84 yards

That’s terrible!  FSU football was ranked No. 123 in the nation for penalties called against (100 penalties on the year). They were No. 93 in the nation in 2015 with 89 penalties called against them.

A ton of the penalties are self-inflicted penalties like false start, holding or personal foul calls.

FSU has exercise better control in this area or it’s going to continue to cost them.
