Jimbo Fisher met with the media Tuesday afternoon and gave an update on fall camp.

It had been a few days since Jimbo Fisher spoke with the media following fall practice, but he did so Tuesday evening to provide insight on how the weekend scrimmage went and more.

I won’t regurgitate the entire thing as the video can be viewed in its entirety below.

Highlights

  • Fisher was pleased withe scrimmage on BOTH sides of the ball
  • Plays were made on BOTH sides of the ball because of execution and not blown coverages
  • Offense made some big time explosive plays
  • Offensive line protected well in the scrimmage
  • Special teams looked good
  • Alabama preparation is beginning
  • Matthew Thomas and others out expected to be back any day now
  • Bailey Hockman didn’t play in the scrimmage because of a banged up shoulder….James Blackman has looked real good in camp.
  • Tarvarus McFadden will return punts and Derwin James and Keith Gavin will return kicks

Thoughts

I wrote on Twitter, I can’t believe Jimbo Fisher hasn’t gone negative Jimbo Fisher to the media after a fall practice. It usually is automatic after several days of talking about how well things are going.

However, he’s yet to do so and he’s really pleased with the attitude, effort and work ethic of this team. That’s a far cry from last season and should tell us a lot about this team.

There are few guys out with injuries, but Alabama preparation is about to begin. That’ll give the ‘Noles roughly a week and a half to implement their game plans although they’ve already discussed some preliminary concepts they plan to implement.

A couple of guys are out for the season, but most of the injuries shouldn’t have any impact moving forward as they seem day-to-day type stuff or players that probably wouldn’t contribute much anyway.

As far as special teams, it’s a bit surprising to see Tarvarus McFadden named the starting punt returner. Keith Gavin and Derwin James is a lot of beef for opposing teams to handle returning kicks.
