FSU football is considered by many to be a playoff team this season – but a group of computer composite rankings have no love for the Seminoles in 2017.

When the first coaches poll rankings came out for the upcoming season, FSU football found themselves right in the thick of things with a No. 3 ranking – something that could go higher if they are able to beat Alabama in the opener. Needless to say, almost everyone thinks that the Noles will make it to the College Football Playoff in 2017.

The key word there: almost.

While the coaches, many magazines and likely the first AP poll have faith in the Seminoles, a group of computer rankings have no love for the men from Tallahassee. A composite of nine computer polls for the upcoming season have the Noles on the outside looking in:

"No. 1 – AlabamaNo. 2 – Ohio StateNo. 3 – ClemsonNo. 4 – OklahomaNo. 5 – FLORIDA STATE"

Okay, that isnt the end of the world and you can’t argue that the other four teams aren’t talented because all of them are capable of making the College Football Playoff. But, when you break down how FSU football got to fifth, it will make you shake your head.

One of the polls, the Payne College Football Power Rankings, has the Seminoles in ninth place at this point, predicting the Seminoles will go 9-3 this season. Another poll, Sonny Moore’s Power Rankings, has the Noles in double digits with a 10th place ranking to start the season.

Oh, but it gets worse. The Marsee 2017 Division I-A College Football System has FSU football…wait for it…starting the season ranked 11th, one spot behind a Western Michigan team and one spot ahead of a Western Kentucky squad.

Okay – I’m not going to sit here and say that FSU football should start the year ranked as the top team in the land. However, there is no way that anyone who claims to be a college football person can say that the Seminoles are not in the top 10.

Thankfully, none of these wacky polls actually matter when it comes to the Noles getting to the CFB Playoff. All that matters is Florida State doing their job 12 times during the regular season and then once in December for the ACC crown.
