FSU football is looking for one person to come out as the top receiver for the 2017 season – and the junior from Orlando is ready to take the role.

While the FSU football team knows that they have a quarterback who can throw the ball a mile in the 2017 season with Deondre Francois making his return, there are plenty of questions about who he will be throwing the ball to. With Travis Rudolph, Bobo Wilson and Kermit Whitfield all moving on to the NFL, there is a growing concern about the receiver room and who will emerge.

One of the players that the Seminoles don’t have to worry about is Nyqwan Murray. After a second half of the 2016 season where he showed the promise that coaches knew he had, Murray will far and away be the number one receiver for the Noles when they take the field for the opener against Alabama in a couple weeks.

It’s a role for FSU football that Murray has been ready for since he arrived in Tallahassee, telling the Orlando Sentinel recently that he is embracing being the man in the lead:

"“That’s what I came to Florida State for: I came here to be that guy, that dude,” Murray said. “I’m ready to take that next step to be that guy that Jimbo wants me to be.”“Time moves fast: I came to Florida State to be that No. 1 guy,” Murray said. “Now the time is here, I have to seize the moment, take the opportunity, and run with it.”"

For Murray, there may be no other choice for FSU football than to have him be the top man at the receiver position. With the recent suspension of Da’Vante Phillips, the depth at that position is getting thinner and thinner. Aside from Murray, Auden Tate and George Campbell are the only other receivers with decent experience that can help at the position.

Murray has the luxury of having both the respect of head coach Jimbo Fisher and his quarterback, so there is no doubt that he will be the man in charge of that room unless something happens drastically over the course of the 2017 season.
