Derwin James

FSU football already has experience playing without Derwin James last year, and likely goes 12-1 with him in the secondary.

The ‘Noles are in a better position in the secondary this season because of the injury to James. However, there’s a void anytime you’re missing a player that will be taken top five overall in the NFL Draft no matter how much depth you have.

Having James in the secondary changes the entire FSU defense. He’s a beast against the run, against the pass, rushing the quarterback and opposing offenses have to account for him at all times.

Not to mention his leadership ability. He’s the type of player that makes teammates focus and bring their “A” game every play.

James plays with great physicality and that will be invaluable to FSU as they’ll have three extremely physical games in the first four games of the season.
