Expert Says Jonathan Isaac Could be Wildcard of 2017 NBA Draft
By Jason Parker
Jonathan Isaac is now the newest member of the Orlando Magic – and one ESPN insider and former NBA player thinks he could be the draft’s star.
It didn’t take long on Thursday for former FSU basketball star Jonathan Isaac to hear his name being called as one of the top picks in the 2017 NBA Draft. Isaac, who grew up in New York City before moving to Florida as a youngster, will get to continue playing in the Sunshine State as a member of the Orlando Magic.
The men from the Magic Kingdom made Isaac the sixth overall player chosen, making him the highest Seminole picked in the modern draft era and the second highest former Nole ever selected. After averaging 12 points and nearly eight rebounds during his one season in Tallahassee, there was no doubt that Isaac would be one of the top players taken.
After being picked by the Magic, one expert believes Jonathan Isaac has the potential to be the best player from the 2017 class. Tim Legler, who spent parts of nine season in the NBA, believes that Isaac is the ‘wildcard’ of this year’s draft (via OrlandoMagic.com):
"`When I watch him play, offensively, with the length and the 9-foot, 2-inch standing reach and his ability to handle like a guard…Most importantly, his footwork is so advanced for a guy that height and that age.”“He’s not like a great NBA 3-point shooter (yet), but he’s a very good college shooter, which will translate into becoming a great NBA shooter. (Isaac) could be the best offensive player in the whole group and he went sixth.’’"
Isaac will likely start the 2016-17 season in the starting lineup for the Magic and head coach Frank Vogel – playing in the same arena where his Florida State career ended during the NCAA tournament this past March.

Jonathan Isaac was always projected to be one of the top picks in the draft before he even stepped foot on the campus of FSU before last season. Now, he has the chance, when it’s all said and done, to possibly be the best player to ever come from the Seminoles.
