FSU football had no one taken in the first round of this April’s NFL Draft – but one website doesn’t think that will be a problem come the 2018 draft.

When it comes to producing top talent to the NFL, FSU football can match their resume against many of the other top programs in all of college football. Last year, the Seminoles saw a total of four players taken over the seven rounds – but not one of them was taken among the first 32 picks in the first round, the first time that had happened since 2012.

When the 2018 NFL Draft comes around, one website doesn’t think Florida State is going to have that problem. CBSSports.com released their list of the top 100 prospects for the NFL Draft come April of 2018. Now, while many FSU football fans aren’t going to want to see all these players go pro, the reality is that many of them probably will.

Anchoring the list are two members of the secondary that should be much better this coming season:

"No. 5 – Derwin James / Safety / Redshirt Soph.At 6-foot-3 and 211 pounds, James is enormous for the position. He’s super-fluid on the field with quick play-recognition gifts, as evidenced by his 91 tackles as a true freshman in 2015.No. 10 – Tarvarus McFadden / Cornerback / JuniorMcFadden and James form the best safety-cornerback duo in the country in 2017. Last year, McFadden reeled in eight interceptions, which led the nation. From a physical perspective, it’s all there for this Florida State standout.No. 20 – Derrick Nnadi / Defensive Tackle / SeniorAt 6-foot-1 and a rock-solid 312 pounds, Nnadi is quite difficult to move on the interior and has the twitchiness to attack upfield. Florida State has a handful of talented defensive linemen on its roster this season, anchored by the powerful and quick Nnadi."

Also making the list are junior defensive end Josh Sweat (No. 33), junior wide receiver Auden Tate (No. 48), and redshirt sophomore quarterback Deondre Francois (No. 94). Having five players in the top 50 right now before the season has even started is quite an accomplishment for this year’s FSU football team.

It also shows two more things: why expectations are so high for this year’s squad – with some believing it is national title game or bust – and why this may be the best chance for a couple years for the Seminoles to win the title. Don’t get me wrong, Florida State will stay one of the better teams for a while – but if all that talent does leave after this season, it’s not going to be as easy to reload right away as some might think.
