FSU Alum: Jameis Winston debuts on NFL Top 100 at No. 57
By Kelvin Hunt
Former FSU football quarterback Jameis Winston is thriving in the NFL. After two seasons, he has finally debuted on the NFL Top 100 players list at No. 57.
Jameis Winston was the No. 1 draft pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 and he has more than lived up to the hype.
Winston already owns several NFL records, as well as Tampa Bay Buccaneer records in just two seasons.
- Youngest player to pass for 3,000 yards
- Youngest player to pass for 4,000 yards
- Youngest player to pass for 40 touchdowns
Jameis Winston has also helped completely turnaround the struggling Tampa Bay franchise who won just two games the season prior to his arrival.
They won six games his rookie season and nine games the following season.
NFL Top 100
Jameis Winston was ranked as the 16th (of out 32) best quarterback by ProFootballFocus, and had this to say about the former Seminole:
"It’s been an interesting season for Winston, who is still searching for the consistency that will take his game to the next level. He started out with a bang with an outstanding game in Week 1 against the Falcons before hitting a lull for a few weeks then bouncing back to rank as a top-10 quarterback since Week 7. His peaks are strong as Winston is capable of carrying a team, however, he still has too many turnover-worthy plays (eighth-most in the league) and his 15 interceptions on the season are close to an accurate representation of his decision-making. The place where Winston shines is in his ability to make throws that can win games, and he has the highest percentage of positively graded throws in the league among quarterbacks with at least 200 attempts, making him almost the complete opposite of Bradford."
Final thoughts
Jameis Winston has the potential to be an all-time great if he’s able to stay healthy.

The Buccaneers did a good job of putting more talent around him in the draft a few weeks back, and the Tampa Bay defense should continue to improve.
It shouldn’t be a shock to see Winston on this list continuously for years to come.
