Sacks allowed

Speaking of Deondre Francois, it’s amazing he didn’t fumble more than he did with the beating he took early in the season.

It was a combination of the offensive line being terrible and him holding the ball too long sometimes.

The ‘Noles allowed the quarterback to be sacked 36 times last season which was ranked No. 108 in the nation. Now, the FSU offense did face seven defenses ranked in the top 30 but that’s an awful lot of punishment for a quarterback to take.

Let’s not talk about the times the quarterback was crushed just as he delivered a pass. Francois did drop back and pass an awful lot for a redshirt freshman at 400 attempts, but that’s still too many sacks to give up.

For comparison sake, EJ Manuel had a max of 387 pass attempts in a season which came in his final year at FSU in 2012.

I expect this number to go down in 2017 as the experience Francois gained last season should pay off, and the offensive line could be better this season.
