Turnovers

Do you know how many turnovers the FSU offense had in 2017? I’m glad you asked. They had 20 turnovers consisting of eight interceptions and 12 fumbles.

Amazingly, the ‘Noles were not affected by the number of turnovers too much but it was concerning they had almost half of their total in the last three games. Granted, two of those games were against Florida and Michigan, two of the better defenses in the nation.

Sadly, eight turnovers came in the two games between Wake Forest and Syracuse. Luckily those two teams were not very good so FSU football was able to overcome them.

As we’ve said many times, turnovers are often random in that balls bounce certain ways or balls get tipped at times. Sometimes they go your way and sometimes they don’t. The FSU defense was good at getting turnovers as they had a turnover margin of +3 on the season.

Overall, Deondre Francois did a very good job of not turning the ball over with just seven interceptions on the year, so that’s promising going forward into 2017.
