Ranking Justification

Justin Fuente set the bar high in his inaugural season at Virginia Tech. He won the ACC Coastal division, losing a competitive game against Clemson in the ACC Championship.

Their comeback win over Arkansas in the Belk Bowl gave Virginia Tech 10 wins for the first time since 2011.

Fuente has been hitting the recruiting trails hard, looking to lock up in-state talent who had been leaving for other programs in recent years.

He lost his quarterback who declared for the NFL Draft and went undrafted. The 2017 season will tell us if the first season was a fluke or not.
