Ranking Justification

Dave Doeren was kind of on the hot seat last season as NC State fans felt the program should have been farther along than it is. They’ve yet to surpass eight wins total and have gone 7-6 the past two seasons.

However, they play in the toughest division in the ACC. An overtime loss to Clemson in which NC State should have won in regulation really derailed their season.

They proceeded to lose three consecutive games after the Clemson debacle, but finished the season by beating arch rival North Carolina and Vanderbilt in the Independence Bowl.
