Former FSU running back Dalvin Cook is already turning heads, and it looks like others believe he’s going to have a monster rookie year.

The NFL is a passing league nowadays and it’s the norm to see wide receivers taken before running backs in NFL Fantasy drafts.

So it’s a big deal when a rookie running back is listed among the top 50 NFL Fantasy options. Scott Barrett listed Dalvin Cook as the No. 42 player in his PPR NFL Fantasy format:

"42. Dalvin Cook, RB, Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings love him as both a runner and receiver. I’m honestly not sure he isn’t more-talented than Leonard Fournette. My concerns are with his pass protection and the team’s offensive line."

If you’re unfamiliar with the PPR format, it accounts for rushing and receiving yards plus receptions for players.

Essentially, Cook is a dual-threat running back that can do damage in both the run and passing games. Just think about how much of an impact player former Nole Devonta Freeman has been because of this skillset.

Barrett has Cook ahead of players like Christian McCaffrey, Julian Edelman, Mark Ingram and Eddie Lacy. He has Leonard Fournette just ahead of Dalvin Cook at No. 39.

Cook has proven to be the better of the two when it comes to catching passes out of the backfield, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him surpass Fournette in total points accumulated in 2017.

If you play NFL Fantasy, Cook could be a viable option as he’s likely to receive the bulk of the carries in Minnesota. The only question is will the Vikings use him in goal line packages? If not, that could result in a dramatic decrease in his overall point production.

Either way, it’s good to see a fellow Nole on a list that projects the leagues most impactful.
