FSU football will likely be ranked top three when the preseason top 25 poll is released later this year. Colin Cowherd says FSU is No. 1.

FSU football will have one of the most talented teams in the country when they open up the 2017 season against Alabama. In fact, Alabama is arguably the only that can claim they have a more talented roster.

Expectations are high for the ‘Noles as they were last year. However, this year is different because there is less hype and way more substance for Jimbo Fisher’s crew.

So much that FOX Sports 1’s Colin Cowherd names FSU football as the best team in the country:

Thoughts

I normally don’t pay too much attention to people like Colin Cowherd, but I was surprised when he gave his opinion on FSU.

All you have to do is look at the recruiting rankings, and number of players they send to the NFL each season to see they are one of the most talented teams.

It’s hard to argue against FSU football this season. They have one of the best defensive lines in the country. Deondre Francois should be even better under center with a year under his belt.

The running backs are extremely talented, and the offensive line should be improved over a year ago.

The biggest question mark for me is the special teams unit. FSU football has to get more from this unit than they have the past two seasons.

They are giving up away too many yards in the punting game. The punt return game has been non-existent in recent years. The kicking game was a little shaky with Ricky Aguayo last season too.

If special teams can shorten the field for the offense, or pin opponents deep in their own territory, it’ll create more scoring opportunities for the offense.

The FSU defense should be stingy, and if that’s the case, they will be one of the toughest teams to beat in the country.
