Former FSU football linebacker Telvin Smith puts NFL players on blast for charging money to attend their football camps. He makes an excellent point too.

Former FSU football standout Telvin Smith has always been a passionate player, and that’s why he is one of most people’s favorite ‘Noles in recent years.

That same passion was evident in a rant earlier this week where he went off on NFL players for charging crazy amounts of money to attend their football camps.

Check it out below:

He said, “This is to every NFL cat out there…this to anybody running a camp or doing any of that. Any of yall who charging these kids to come to these camps bruh, at these ridiculous numbers….whatever the number is…yall suckas bro.”

He went on about players not forgetting where they come from, and the humbleness and gratitude that got them to where they are as NFL players.

How most of the NFL players were those little kids that wanted to attend those camps, but couldn’t because they didn’t have the money to pay for it.

Thoughts

How could anyone be mad at him for this? Notice he didn’t pick and choose who he was talking about either. In a later phone interview with ESPN, Smith indicated he’s merely talking about the football camps that only last a few hours and no major instruction is involved.

Smith has every right to voice his opinion, and actually put his money was his mouth was when he held his first camp in his hometown of Valdosta, Georgia, last June.

He had several ‘Noles to help out with this camp including: Devonta Freeman, Dalvin Cook, Rashad Greene, Tyler Hunter, Travis Rudolph and Lonnie Pryor.

Smith said he had over 500 kids to attend his camp last year. The great thing about it is he gave back to the community that helped get him where he is now.

I think more players should go back to the community where they grew up to host these types of events, as well as the communities of the teams they play for.

Great job Telvin, I’m glad he’s a Nole.
