FSU basketball gets respect from Associate Press as No. 64 ranked college basketball team of all time. Should they be higher?
FSU basketball has been playing in the shadows of the football program for the longest time. However, the ‘Noles have found a respectable spot among the AP All-Time Top 100 college programs.
The ‘Noles have been ranked 127 times in the AP Poll with their highest ever ranking being No. 2.That mark is good for a spot in 11.5 percent of polls in history.
The AP assigned a point to each program for number of appearances in the poll and two points for each No. 1 ranking all during the regular season to determine the list.
Florida State Seminoles Basketball
It’s no surprise to see so many ACC teams on the list. North Carolina is No. 2, Duke No. 3, Louisville No. 7, Syracuse No. 9, NC State No. 21, Virginia No. 32, Wake Forest No. 33 and Georgia Tech No. 45.
Of course Louisville and Syracuse are recent additions to the ACC Conference.
FSU basketball was ranked ahead of the likes of Miami, Clemson, Boston College and Virginia Tech.
FSU basketball has won 57.8 percent of their games since their inaugural season in 1947.
The ‘Noles have enjoyed their most consistent success under current coach Leonard Hamilton who won the schools lone ACC Championship in 2012, winning the ACC Tournament.
The ‘Noles have made the NCAA Tournament 15 times, six times under Hamilton and have an overall record of 16-15. They played for a National Championship once in their history, losing to UCLA in 1972.
FSU basketball enjoyed one of their best seasons in school history this season, winning 26 games total while playing in the best conference in the country.
