Other Possibilities

There are a lot of talented players on this team and some others with leadership capabilities. Let’s look at a few:

  • Matthew Thomas-The former five-star recruit began to show his potential in his first full season as a starter. However, it wasn’t until after the North Carolina loss that Thomas really took his play to the next level that culminated in a huge performance against Michigan in the Orange Bowl.
  • Jacques Patrick-The most experienced running back on the roster will play a big role in getting all the younger talented running backs up to speed. He doesn’t exude a big personality, but could still emerge as one of the leaders on the offensive side of the ball.
  • Dontavious Jackson-Jackson was a heralded four-star recruit that saw the field quite a bit as a true freshman. He always seemed to bring good energy to the linebacker position when he got on the field. Jackson has the potential to be a vocal leader with a vibrant personality.
  • Josh Sweat-The former No. 1 overall recruit began to turn it on late last season, and will play an important role in his junior season.

Sweat has already mentioned he’s trying to move into more of a leadership role, probably not as vocal as DeMarcus Walker, but a leader nonetheless.
