FSU football will open up its 2017 season against Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Can the ‘Noles overcome the odds again?

FSU football had to overcome the odds in their final game of the 2016 season, a touchdown underdog against the Michigan Wolverines in the Orange Bowl.

The ‘Noles prevailed and won outright.

However, they’ll need to beat the odds again when they take on Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2017 season opener September 2 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The game will take place on a neutral field and Alabama opened around -3 or -3.5 betting when lines first began appearing.

The betting line moved up to -4.5 in favor of Alabama about six weeks ago, but that line has moved again in favor of the Crimson Tide.

Alabama is now a -5.5 betting favorite according to multiple betting sites now.

Now, it doesn’t take a huge amount of money to move these betting lines since it’s so early but it’s clear people have faith in Nick Saban and his squad.

Jimbo Fisher seems pleased with spring practices with many of the young players getting valuable reps as early enrollees. We’ll know more after Monday’s first scrimmage, and the spring game that will take place on April 8.

Clemson went toe-to-toe with Alabama the last two seasons, and FSU football went toe-toe with Clemson.

FSU football is one of the few teams that can somewhat match the talent Alabama has on its roster. The betting line could very well get up to a touchdown similar to how it did in the Orange Bowl against Michigan.

If Jalen Hurts is Alabama’s quarterback, I like FSU’s chances to cover if not outright win.

The ‘Noles and Alabama last met a decade ago with FSU prevailing 21-14.
