FSU Basketball: Jonathan Isaac Leaving For 2017 NBA Draft

FSU basketball has lost yet another player to the NBA Draft as Jonathan Isaac becomes the second one and done player in as many years after his decision.

Every since FSU basketball lost in the second round of this year’s NCAA Tournament to Xavier (a loss that doesn’t look as bad now that they are in the Elite Eight) fans of the Seminoles have been wondering when the team’s top three prospects for the NBA Draft would be announcing their future moves.

After Dwyane Bacon and Xavier Rathan-Mayes made their announcements in back-to-back days, maybe the highest ranked prospect out of the three decided to join them as Jonathan Isaac, one of the highest rated prep stars to every play for the ‘Noles, posted a Twitter video with his mother announcing that he was heading to the pros:

Isaac will become just the second player to be ‘one and done’ for FSU basketball, joining Malik Beasley last season – who was drafted in the first round in the 2016 draft by the Denver Nuggets. Isaac is considered to be a top lottery pick, with several mock drafts having him going as high as fourth overall.

The Naples, FL native spent his prep career at the IMG Academy in Florida, shining and vaulting up boards to the point where he was the eighth rated prep prospect – deciding to join the Florida State family with many people saying he would be spending just one campaign in Tallahassee.

The 6’10” forward led the ‘Noles in rebounds and blocks per game this season while finishing second in points behind Bacon. In the NCAA Tournament games, Isaac averaged a double double in the win over Florida Gulf Coast and afore mentioned loss to Xavier.

With all three players heading to the pros, FSU basketball will now be without four of their five starters from this past season – joined by graduating center Michael Ojo as those who won’t be inside the Tucker Center next season for the Seminoles.
