Culture

A lot of people were beginning to question the culture of FSU football last season when they opened the season 3-2 and ACC Championship chances were dashed pretty early.

I didn’t believe there was a culture problem. If that were the case, that FSU team would have gotten blown out by Ole Miss in the opening game of the season after getting whipped in the first half.

They would have folded against UNC after getting worked in the first half. How many times have we seen FSU football come back from a deficit over the past two or three seasons?

Now, that’s not optimal and speaks to a lack of focus early, but it’s not a culture problem.

However, players having to wear orange jerseys this early is setting the tone for this season. There’s no waiting until the sixth game of the season to sign a promise note.

Fisher is demanding excellence, and from all accounts opening practice was markedly different from last season. Some of that is this team is more experienced than last, but the other part is expectations have been reset since last season.
