Let’s take a look at how FSU and their Olympic sport teams did this past week.

While much of the attention is paid to the major FSU sports, including football, basketball and baseball, there is plenty of other athletic competition going on right now on the Tallahassee campus and across the country involving the ‘Noles. Here’s a recap of how some of the Olympic sports fared this past week.

Softball

After having a midweek game cancelled due to weather, the Lady ‘Noles headed west to face four ranked teams in six games. Top ranked Florida State dropped their first game to Texas A&M before rattling off four straight wins against Stanford, San Diego State, Arizona and UCLA. The road trip ended with a tie against Michigan on Sunday. FSU will head back home this weekend for the ACC opener against Georgia Tech.

Beach Volleyball

The second ranked Lady ‘Noles got back on the sand this past weekend for the Garnet and Gold match to get ready for the 2017 season. Their first matches of the season take place this coming weekend when they travel to DeLand for the annual Stetson Spring Break Invitational. FSU will take on 10th ranked LSU and the ninth ranked host Hatters.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

For both teams, the number three kept coming up this past weekend in South Bend, Indiana for the annual ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. The men’s team came up in third place, finishing behind back-to-back champions Virginia Tech and second place finisher Virginia.

On the women’s side, the Lady ‘Noles also came up in third place behind back-to-back champs Miami and second place Clemson. Both squads will be across town this weekend for the FAMU Relays.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

The men’s team split their games this past weekend at home, defeating Pepperdine while dropping a heartbreaking 4-3 match to Texas A&M. The 37th ranked ‘Noles will head to Georgia Tech this Sunday to open ACC play.

The Lady ‘Noles started the week in South Florida, dropping their ACC opener to Miami before defeating FAU. This weekend, it was a trip to Atlanta where they dropped another conference match to Georgia Tech. FSU will look to turn their fortunes around this weekend with home matches against Wake Forest and N.C. State.

Men’s and Women’s Golf

Both teams have been on the road to finish of the pre-Spring Break portion of their schedule. The men’s team is in Mexico taking part in the Querencia Cabo Collegiate tournament, while the ladies are in Texas for The Dickenson Tournament.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming

Both teams were in Gainesville this weekend for a Last Chance Meet, approved by the NCAA to give swimmers a final chance to better qualifying times for the upcoming NCAA Tournament. The men took their efforts in the pool to Atlanta for the ACC Tournament running through Thursday.
