Most likely to make an immediate impact

This section is probably the easiest to surmise, especially considering the fact that the Seminoles landed seven top-100 players. A few of those guys are certain to make an impact right away.

Let’s start off with the top-rated running back in the country. Cam Akers, from Clinton, Mississippi, committed to Florida State on December 28th. In doing so, he spurned offers from basically every other major school in college football, including the local favorite, Ole Miss.

With Dalvin Cook’s departure, there is now an opening at running back that Fisher has to fill. Although the job may go to junior Jacques Patrick early, Akers is so talented that many believe he will be the team’s primary running back midway through the season. The fact that he enrolled early doesn’t hurt his chances either.

The next guy on our list is big Marvin Wilson. The 6-foot-4, 330-pound defensive tackle was the last player to commit during ESPN’s National Signing Day coverage. He had FSU fans (and coaches) waiting nervously until 4:30 PM. But once he did announce he would be heading to Tallahassee, everyone was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Wilson is the top-rated DT in the country. Much like Timmy Jernigan and Eddie Goldman before him, FSU’s newest five-star will make an impact year one. Defensive tackle is a position that sees heavy rotation, so Wilson should be able to provide quality reps early on.

Rounding out our list is wide receiver DJ Matthews, out of Jacksonville, Florida. Despite his diminutive size (listed at 5-foot-11, 160 pounds), he’s going to be an explosive weapon in Fisher’s offense. Wide receiver is a somewhat thin position at the moment for FSU, meaning that Matthews should be able to break through relatively quickly.
