Let’s take a look at how FSU and their Olympic sport teams did this past week.
While much of the attention is paid to the major FSU sports, including football, basketball and baseball, there is plenty of other athletic competition going on right now on the Tallahassee campus and across the country involving the ‘Noles. Here’s a recap of how some of the Olympic sports fared this past week.
Men’s and Women’s Track and Field
The Seminoles were in the Palmetto State this past weekend to take part in the Bob Pollock Invitational hosted by the Clemson Tigers. FSU left the weekend with six wins and 40 personal best marks from the team and will be rewarded with some time off before sprinters, jumpers and throwers head to Arkansas for a meet Feb. 10th and 11th – while distance runners head to Boston for a competition.
Men’s and Women’s Tennis
The men’s team headed out to the Lone Star State for two matches last weekend, coming up short against Mississippi State while dominating host Texas Tech. They will have the next weekend off before hosting George Washington and College of Charleston Feb. 10th and 11th. The Lady ‘Noles also were on the road, splitting their two matches with a loss to host Ohio State and a win over Harvard. They will host a doubleheader this Friday against Florida Gulf Coast and North Florida.
Men’s and Women’s Golf
The Lady ‘Noles opened up their 2017 spring schedule Monday in Lecanto, Florida for the annual Florida Challenge. FSU finished 13 strokes over par for the day, coming up just one shot behind rivals Florida and Miami for the lead. They will take the weekend off before hosting the Florida State Match-Up on Feb. 10 and 11th. The men’s team opens their season next Monday at the TPC Sawgrass course in Ponte Vedra in the Sea Best Invitational.
Men’s and Women’s Swimming
Both the men’s and women’s teams had a good weekend in Atlanta, coming out on top in both their meets against the Savannah College of Art and Design (Men winning 228-82 and Women winning 247-46) while later defeating Georgia Tech (Men winning 180-120 and Women winning 190-110). Both teams will head to Chapel Hill, NC this weekend for the annual Carolina College Invite.
